Our Location

Good Samaritan is located in the growing Ashley River corridor of Summerville. We are currently meeting at Beech Hill Elementary School - 1001 Beech Hill Road, Summerville, SC 29485. We are excited to have this opportunity to meet in the school cafeteria and actively seek to bless the school who so generously shares their space with us.

Time

Starting at 10:15 a.m., the first part of our time together each week includes coffee, donuts, and fellowship!

Our worship service then begins around 10:30 a.m. and lasts about one hour.

What to Bring

The main thing to bring is yourself and your family!

We also encourage you to bring your Bible, if you have one. Our sermons focus on the Scripture and the congregation is frequently encouraged to follow along. If you don’t have a Bible, we have one that we want to give you as a gift!

Children

We are blessed to have a large number of children!

At Good Samaritan, we welcome children in our worship and are blessed by their presence—noise and all! Further, we encourage children to participate in the worship as they are able and, when they are ready, to help lead parts of the service (readings, participating in the worship team, and more)!

Nursery

We do not, presently, have a nursery, but are looking to get one up and running as we settle into our space at Beech Hill.

Children’s Church

During the sermon, children age three through third grade are welcome to accompany our children’s minister and volunteers for a special teaching and activity time geared to their level. Children are returned to their parents before Communion (or before the end of the service on morning prayer days). Children’s Church typically meets three times per month, on the first, third, and fourth Sundays. The first and third Sundays focus on a Bible teaching that coincides with the sermon. The fourth Sunday Chidren’s Church has a special outreach focus where we focus on serving and blessing others in our community.

Family Friendly Worship

At Good Samaritan, we strive for family-friendly worship each and every week. On Sundays where there is no Children’s Church, or for children who elect to remain in the worship service with their parents, we encourage parents and children to be engaged together, participating in corporate worship, singing, and even taking sermon notes!

Liturgy and Music

As Anglicans, we are a “liturgical” church, meaning that the whole congregation has a role in participating in the worship and we follow a similar pattern of worship week-in and week-out. Through the liturgy, the Scripture, prayers, and Creeds become ingrained in our hearts, so that we have an ever present reminder of God’s love for us. At Good Samaritan, our liturgy includes readings from Scripture, a sermon, and Holy Communion every week.

Our musical style would be considered contemporary, with guitars, percussion, and keyboard. However, the songs we sing are both ancient and new. We believe music in church is for the congregation to sing, not only for listening, so we try to choose music that is easy to sing and communicates the great truths of our Triune God and his acts of salvation.

In our worship, we seek to reflect the breadth and depth of the human experience and our relationship with God. The Psalms are our guide as we recognize that the people of God are invited to come to him in their joy and their sorrows, their hope and their doubt, their confidence and their fear.

We’re looking forward to meeting you!
